On our role in assisting the International Architecture Biennale in Rotterdam in articulating the curatorial vision and writing stories.
"Nature of Hope" features over 50 diverse architectural practices from around the globe, each presenting unique approaches to integrating local and bio-based materials, exploring new policy frameworks, and fostering community-driven initiatives. The exhibition is complemented by an extensive public program, including symposia, tours, excursions, and workshops, aimed at both professionals and the general public.
Guiding this visionary undertaking is a curatorial team led by Saskia van Stein, with members including architects, researchers, and writers who bring a multidisciplinary approach to the table. As part of the biennale's dedication to engaging storytelling, House Of Narrative plays a role in conveying the team's vision, making sure the complex theories and impactful stories behind each project are accessible and that the architectural solutions and ecological insights connect with a wide audience.
During the preparation and throughout the Biennale, we collaborated with the five curators to craft the curatorial statement, write descriptions for the projects of architects and artists involved, and create a series of in-depth articles. We also handled the editing and writing of website texts and organized an interview campaign in conjunction with IABR's photographer and in-house content creator, Sabine van der Vooren.
The exhibition not only highlights pioneering design practices but also includes a "green route" through Rotterdam, featuring 'Botanical Monuments' that emphasize the city's green initiatives. This route offers a tangible experience of how urban spaces can harmoniously coexist with nature. "Nature of Hope" at the IABR promises to be a event that reimagines the role of architecture in today's world, inspiring new ways of thinking and building for a sustainable future,
